1. Beaches and Dramatic Coastline
You don’t have to cross the globe for white, sandy beaches. The West Coast of Guernsey has enviable views and hotels right on the beach, perfect for your celebration. Guernsey is famous for its dramatic tides and sunsets which create atmosphere and incredible backdrops for pictures. In Guernsey, the Peninsula Hotel sits right on the coast, allowing you to have your ceremony in their garden overlooking the water. The Cobo Bay Hotel overlooks one of Guernsey’s most beautiful beaches and lets you make the most of Guernsey’s summer evenings. For a beachside wedding, with a contemporary twist, why not get married on the west coast headland before enjoying your reception meal at La Reunion, a beautiful restaurant with views over Guernsey’s Cobo Bay.
You can also take the boat over to Herm and host your wedding at the White House Hotel. Situated on the waterfront, The White House reception marquee enjoys beautiful sunset views, and you can choose from Herm’s many beaches or the historic St Tugual’s Chapel for your ceremony.
2. Countryside Marquees and Rustic Romance
Dreaming of an outdoor wedding or your very own festival? Marquee and tent-based weddings are a great way to build your ideal wedding. With no set template, you can make it your own. Bonita Events provide Sperry Tents and Nordic Tents that can be decorated to suit your style.
For some rustic romance, Les Caches Farm, owned by the National Trust Guernsey, can host up to 100 people in their historic traditional Guernsey farmhouse. With its thatched roof and adjacent orchard, it is a beautiful place to celebrate.
3. Clifftop Views
The Islands of Guernsey have stunning cliff top vistas that are ideal wedding locations, allowing you to enjoy the view all day long. Most often, a tent is used to create a cosy structure where you can celebrate regardless of the weather. On Guernsey, the south coast and Les Cotils are popular locations for cliff top weddings. If you are looking for even more adventure, you can take the boat to our sister island, Sark. Sark has a unique and dramatic landscape, there are no cars allowed and is a wonderful escape from everyday life. Little Sark also makes an excellent wedding venue, with La Coupée providing an amazing photo opportunity.
4. Castles and Historic Sites
Historical sites are in abundance on the Islands of Guernsey, with many dating back to the mediaeval period. Coastal forts make for atmospheric locations for weddings, and some can be hired out exclusively, such as Castle Cornet. You can also hire tipis and marquees for weddings at Vale Castle, giving you beautiful coastal views and dramatic backdrops. Some other locations to explore include Fort Clonque in Alderney or Fort Grey and Clarence Battery in Guernsey.
5. Relaxing Hotels
Across the Islands of Guernsey we are fortunate to have a range of beautiful hotels experienced in hosting weddings. From city-chic to rural cosiness, these venues can guide you through the planning process, with many offering a mix of packages and bespoke services. Local wedding planners will also be able to help with finding on-island suppliers and finding the right location for your day.
If you are looking for city style event, we suggest the Old Government House Hotel or the Duke of Richmond Hotel, both located in St Peter Port in Guernsey with easy access to restaurants and sporting amazing sea views. Inland, The Farmhouse, Les Douvres and Hotel Hougue Du Pommier all offer countryside charm with beautiful gardens.
