Breakfast on the Islands of Guernsey

Breakfast is well known as the most important meal of the day, essential to set you up for whatever the day ahead has in store.

Whether you want a quick bite to eat, a more filling cooked breakfast, a healthy smoothie or wellness juice, we have several places for you to try. From restaurants to informal cafes and everything in between, here is a list of some of the best places for a delicious breakfast on the Islands of Guernsey.

Guernsey

Coco Mini Brasserie

Perfect for an early morning breakfast or a lazy mid-morning brunch, Coco is an incredibly popular spot, with some people stopping by on the way to work and others who want to sit and watch the world pass by from its perfect location opposite Havelet Bay in St Peter Port. You'll be spoilt for choice with everything from French classics, like a croissant or croque monsieur, to a full English or their range of pastries and coffees.

Good Rebel

Good Rebel offers fresh, healthy and some rebellious dining options for breakfast, including wellness juices and shots and a creative modern breakfast menu. Found at Admiral Park, this is another very popular location for pre-work breakfast, or for those wanting somewhere that is just out of town.

Café Emilia

Cafe Emilia, situated in Le Pollet, offers the perfect place for a breakfast to prepare you for a day in St Peter Port. Whether it’s a freshly baked pastry and coffee or a full English with a selection of teas, their friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere are on hand to help you find your perfect breakfast. With a kids-specific brunch menu as well as vegetarian and vegan options, this cafe is suitable for the whole family.

Christies

A much-loved venue in the heart of St Peter Port, Christie’s offers great food with stunning views out to the harbour and beyond. Whether it’s a quick breakfast meeting or a leisurely brunch with mimosas, there is something for everyone. Their menu is full of English classics for all to enjoy.

The Hideaway

The Hideaway Patisserie and Brasserie is quite literally hidden away above the centre of town, with views outside on the terrace looking out over the harbour and cobbled streets. Ideal for a moment of peace to watch the world go by, their menu caters for all dietary requirements, with a huge variety to choose from.

Old Government House Brasserie

Set in a spacious and sunny conservatory, overlooking the private gardens and St Peter Port harbour, The Brasserie at the OGH provides a light and informal environment for breakfast. Using fresh, local produce wherever possible, they serve a range of delicious seasonal menus. There is a breakfast buffet with a wide selection of meats, cheeses and fruit, or an À La Carte breakfast that is cooked to order.

Lola

Sister restaurant to Coco, Lola is the newest eatery in the Market Square. Offering both indoor and alfresco dining, you can sit and watch the world go by. Granola, pastries, eggs and more brunch food are served all day. 

Muse

Muse is a bright and airy café located near Admiral Park, the residential and financial district of St Peter Port. Offering pancakes, eggs, waffles, porridge, coffee and more, Muse is the perfect place to catch up with friends or colleagues in the morning.

Bathing Pools Cafe at La Vallette

Perfect for a delicious breakfast after a swim in the bathing pools, the café provides a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The cafe is newly renovated, and you can enjoy classic breakfast options from the terrace or inside the building with views across the bathing pools and Havelet Bay.

The Puffin and Oyster

With stunning views of Le Grande Havre, the Puffin and Oyster are open for breakfast every Saturday and Sunday. You will be spoilt for choice, with options to suit all tastes and dietary requirements on their new menu, along with a selection of coffees and teas to get you ready for the weekend.

Nineteen Bar & Grill

Nineteen Bar and Grill is located at The Golf Club, St Pierre Park Hotel, and boasts some of the most beautiful parkland views on Guernsey. During the week they have a simple menu, with pastries and muffins that are perfect to grab something quick to start the day. Their weekend breakfast/brunch menu is expansive and caters for all and, with plenty of room inside and a driving range and mini golf as entertainment, it's a great place for a fun morning out with the family.

The Kiln

The Kiln is a popular coffee shop found at Oatlands Village, the perfect option if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of St Peter Port. Their menu is expansive and, with beautiful gardens, good food and a playground and mini golf course just around the corner, The Kiln offers the perfect family breakfast.

Alderney

Jack's 

Jack's enjoys an enviable location at the bottom of Victoria Street in Alderney, with a terrace area for al fresco dining. Their breakfast offering is classic, from smoothie bowls and eggs to pancakes and full English breakfasts, and is sure to set you up well for a day exploring Alderney.

The Blonde Hedgehog Restaurant 

The Blonde Hedgehog Restaurant is led by Head Chef, Stephen Scott, and focuses on simple dishes bursting with flavour. The menu changes daily and is created based off of the fresh, local ingredients they get in that morning, many of which come from their kitchen garden just outside the kitchen itself.

The Moorings 

The Moorings is the go-to venue for families in Alderney who are looking for a place where the kids can let off some steam on the beach and the adults can relax. It is the perfect place during the week to grab breakfast butties, cakes, pastries and shakes to accompany your morning coffee and on the weekends they are open for a more substantial cooked breakfast from 8:30am.

PJ's Cafe

A friendly cafe in the heart of the bustling Victoria Street in Alderney, it is open from 9am every day for a variety of breakfast sandwiches and takeaway options, perfect to pick up breakfast on your way to the beach.

Sark & Herm

The Bistro at Stocks

The Bistro restaurant and poolside terrace at Stocks Hotel are located in the heart of Sark. Their breakfast is made using the freshest local ingredients whenever possible from their own garden or farmers and producers within 5 miles of the hotel.

Nova's Bistro 

Nova’s Bistro is a small, friendly cafe located in the heart of Sark, open for breakfast and brunch from 9am for pastries, french toast, pancakes and other classic breakfast options. You can sit outside in the secluded, sunny garden area at the back of the café or inside the newly refurbished bistro. Nova's is the perfect place to enjoy a leisurely morning.

The Ship Inn 

The Ship Inn is a popular restaurant on Herm. You can enjoy their patio on nice days or sit in their bar area with its open fire when the weather is colder. Breakfast is served from 9am daily, with everything from a full English to a simple bacon baguette.
