Exploring our Island's Coastline

The Islands of Guernsey have beautiful oceans and coastlines that are filled with unique marine life and boast spectacular views.

The best way to appreciate our waters is to get out on them. We have a range of tours and transport options available to book and hire. Whether you want to explore via boat or jetski or fancy taking a kayak or paddleboarding tour or just want to hire the equipment to explore at your own pace, there are countless options when it comes to exploring our coastline, and we’ve listed some of the options here.

Guernsey

Guernsey Boat Charters

Guernsey Boat Charters specialise in fast, reliable and bespoke inter-island transport, fast response service and hosting great boat parties for up to 12 passengers. The Skipper, Buz White, has over 40 years of experience so you’re in safe hands aboard The Access Challenger, a boat he hand built that has hosted members of the Royal Family and international film crews. New for 2023 is Annie Blaker, an ex-RNLI lifeboat that will be running tours and charters around our Islands for up to 12 passengers.

Out the Blue Charters

Skippered by Richard Seager, Out the Blue is fully equipped for fishing trips and wildlife or sightseeing tours. It has two engines for safety and can carry up to twelve passengers, as well as being wheelchair accessible. Available for group or individual bookings.

Margaret K Chartered Angling

Offering half-day and evening guided fishing/angling trips for groups and individuals. The skipper is Richard Keen, an experienced angler himself, who will help you get the most out of your fishing trip in Guernsey. No prior experience is needed.

Island Rib Voyages

Enjoy the adrenaline rush as you blast across the sea just inches above the water on an exciting boat trip. Island Rib Voyages has a range of tours to suit all interests. You can see the Puffins and Seals up close with Wildlife Voyages, delve deep into the Island’s past with tower and bunker tours, or explore our Islands from a new perspective with the Hanois Lighthouse adventure tour and so much more.

Go Guernsey Land and Sea

Go Guernsey Land and Sea provide kayak, coasteering and stand-up paddleboard tours around Guernsey, led by professional and knowledgeable tour guides. If you want to have a go yourself without going on a tour, they also hire out all of the equipment needed.

Outdoor Guernsey

Outdoor Guernsey has kayaks and stand-up paddle boards available to hire daily at Cobo, Petit Bot and Saints Bay in Guernsey and Shell Beach in Herm. They also have specialist guided tours via kayak, stand-up paddle boards and coasteering for the more adventurous.

Guernsey SUP

Guernsey SUP is dedicated to getting people out on the water and enjoying stand-up paddle boarding safely. They offer private and group lessons, guided tours or just simply ‘hire-and-go’ boards for everyone to enjoy.

Wild swimming adventures

Wild swimming is a popular pastime on the Islands of Guernsey and is a great way to get active outdoors and see our coastline from an alternative perspective. Our waters are safe and, especially in the summer, provide a refreshing and rejuvenating experience.

Some groups make plans to meet and explore our Island’s waters together. They're always welcoming to new members, whether you intend to join them frequently or just as a one-off experience. Simply look at their Facebook pages or on their websites for updates on their latest plans. These groups include The Mental Tentacles, Guernsey Swim Adventures, Guernsey Open Water Swimming and Guernsey Swim All Seasons.

Alderney

The Alderney Wildlife Trust

Explore Alderney's coastline from the best vantage point, the sea. The Alderney Wildlife Trust offers seabird and fortification tours, wildlife tours and round Island Tours from April to October. It is worth remembering, if you are wanting to discover wildlife, that the puffins arrive on the islet of Burhou in early April and leave in late July. The boat is licensed for a maximum of 12 people and pre-booking is advised. The Alderney Wildlife Trust also have kayaks, canoes and paddle boards for hire. If you love marine life, you can even hire transparent canoes to get a better look at the abundance of wildlife in our waters.

Lady Maris

Lady Maris in Alderney is licenced for 12 passengers and offers round Island boat tours, trips to Cherbourg, Guernsey and Sark and is also available to charter.

Avante Boat Trips

Avante Boat Trips is based in Alderney, available to hire April-September. Discover Alderney’s waters on an Island tour or take an angling trip. Also offers fishing out of St Peter Port. The boat is licensed for 12 passengers.

Sark

Sark Boat Trips

Sark Boat Trips offer voyages around Sark that will let you visit caves, bird watch and much more. The boat is licensed for a maximum of 12 people and pre-booking is advised. Departures are from Creux Harbour in Sark.

Adventure Sark

Adventure Sark provides kayaking and coasteering tours around the unique coast of Sark. You’ll get the chance to explore the caves and see the rare species of wildlife and nature that are only visible from the sea.

Herm

Outdoor Guernsey - Herm

Outdoor Guernsey has kayaks and stand-up paddle boards available to hire daily at Shell Beach in Herm during the summer. They also have a very popular ‘Puffin Patrol’ tour, a two-hour kayaking tour around Herm, starting at Shell Beach, for groups who want to get up close to the puffins off the coast of Herm.
