Discover Guernsey's Rich History with the Discovery Pass

The best way to discover Guernsey's unique history is through the many museums covering everything from neolithic Guernsey to present day. With the Unlimited Visits Discovery Pass, you can unlock 12 months of unlimited seasonal visits to Castle Cornet, Guernsey Museum, Fort Grey and the German Naval Signals Headquarters for just £22.

Perfect for families, the Discovery Pass allows free entry for the pass holder and any children under 18 accompanying them and also provides a 10% discount in the museum gift shops and at the Guernsey Information Centre (card must be shown when paying).

You can purchase a card from the Guernsey Museum at Candie, Castle Cornet, Beau Sejour Leisure Centre, Guernsey Information Centre, The German Naval Signals HQ or the Guernsey Pearl, to begin your journey through our history.

Castle Cornet

Standing at the mouth of Saint Peter Port harbour, the 800-year-old castle offers panoramic views of our sister islands as well centuries of history which can be discovered in the four on-site museums.

These consist of the Story of Castle Cornet, the 201 Squadron (RAF) Museum, the Royal Guernsey Light Infantry Museum and the Royal Guernsey Militia Museum

The castle also boasts four historic gardens, a cafe with views of Herm and Sark, stories from Guernsey's past reenacted by The Guernsey History in Action Company (check their website for performance timings), and a free guided tour at 10:30 am daily.

Why not also stick around for the Noonday gun, which is fired midday by gunners in 19th-century costume?

The castle is considerably larger than it first appears, so make sure you give yourself plenty of time to explore - or perhaps come back for multiple visits using the Discovery Pass!

Guernsey Museum at Candie

Step into the Guernsey Museum at Candie to discover their many permanent exhibitions, as well as a rolling calendar of temporary displays that beg to be explored across multiple visits.

Their permanent exhibitions include the Archaeology of Guernsey, Treasures from Around the World held in the collection, the Folklore of Guernsey, and the Rona Cole Gallery - showing 200 works of art, creatively displayed using pull-out drawers to make the best use of a small space.

For families, explore the Discovery Room with a Cabinet of Curiosities, old-fashioned games to play, and the very popular Timewarp that changes theme each year.

For more information on their rolling exhibitions and other activities, visit their website

Fort Grey

Known locally as the "Cup and Saucer", Fort Grey is a Martello Tower originally built in 1804 to defend Guernsey's west coast.

Martello Towers are small defensive forts that were built across the British Empire during the 19th century.

Many vessels have been met with peril on this beautiful but treacherous coast, and the old Martello Tower now houses the Shipwreck Museum, displaying a compelling collection of objects recovered from various wrecks.

Information panels throughout the museum tell the gripping stories that surround the many disasters.

German Naval Signals HQ

Explore the last operational Signals HQ that was running up until 9 May 1945, using the Enigma code machines that were being decoded by the staff at Bletchley Park.

The headquarters were established in the nearby La Collinette Hotel and were responsible for all radio traffic between Germany and the other islands.

This is a fascinating relic of the German Occupation of Guernsey and is well worth a visit.
