Exploring Guernsey by Hoof

From carriage tours to beach rides, take your exploration of the Islands of Guernsey to a whole new level with an experience for the whole family to enjoy.

Horse & Carriage Tours

If you’re not a confident rider but are drawn to a horse-based island exploration, hop on over to Sark to add that special touch to your trip with a carriage tour.

Enjoy a private horse & carriage tour with Stocks own livery stables and experience the island from the comfort of an original 1850s vintage Ferrari Victoria carriage, pulled by either Ronaldo or Willow, Stocks’ resident horses. With the option to add a picnic hamper and a bottle of champagne, as well as evening carriage rides which provide excellent stargazing opportunities, this is the perfect romantic surprise to add to your itinerary.

You can also book your horse and carriage tour with Sark Carriages, based at Le Grand Fort Farm. The island’s longest-established horse and carriage provider, they offer regular tours for individuals and groups, providing taxis as well as sunset and moonlight rides. You can also hop aboard for a tour to Little Sark.

Guernsey Stables

With horse riding lessons for all abilities, as well as escorted hacks and group pony days, stop by La Carriere Stables, for an adventurous day out. With an equestrian shop at the stables, stock up on the latest accessories and stylish equestrian clothing whilst visiting.

In St Saviours, you will find the Guernsey Riding and Hunt Club, which is affiliated with British Riding Clubs and British Horse Society. Offering an array of activities for all abilities, the club also hosts events throughout the year including show jumping, showing, dressage, cross-country and social rides.

In the parish of Castel, you will find Melrose Farm Riding School. This British Horse Society-approved facility includes both indoor and outdoor arenas, as well as stabling and show jumps. Offering beach riding, lessons, horse trekking and pony activity days, this is the perfect addition to your coastal exploration of the island! Accommodating both beginners and experienced riders, they offer private or group lessons as well as Children’s Pony Parties.

Otterbourne Riding Centre, a local family business, works with experienced instructors to bring riders a fun and safe adventure. With great hacking routes near the stables, as well as beach access, they are approved by both the Association of British Riding Schools and the Pony Club. Suitable for riders from 2 years old through to 70+.
