Located on an impressive site on the west coast, Batterie Mirus was the largest battery built in the Channel Islands during the Second World War.
Spread over an area of approximately 1km x 0.75km, most of the structures remain – including all four of the gun emplacements and the adjoining accommodation.
The site has recently undergone restoration work by Festung Guernsey, which means that visitors can now explore the labyrinthine of once-secret corridors and rooms.
Tours are available through Tours of Guernsey, Olga Mitchell and Tuk Tuk Tours. Groups can also visit by prior arrangement with Festung Guernsey.
