Enjoy everything from a relaxed and inexpensive 9-hole, par 3 pitch and putt, to a celebrated sculpture park at this long-standing attraction. Open daily throughout the year (although some facilities may not be available during all seasons), there is plenty to keep the whole family entertained.

The jewel in the crown, the manor building itself, is Guernsey's only stately home and is open for tours from Easter or April (whichever is the earlier) to October.

A time capsule of the family who are still there after just over 800 years, it contains architecture, artefacts and art relating to the generations of family members who have been sailors, soldiers, inventors, adventurers, explorers, judges, generals, admirals, artists, governors, privateers, sportspeople, diplomats, merchants and collectors.

An unusual RHS Partner Garden, a coppersmith, and a children's play area are also on-site.

Regular events and attractions

Farmers' Market

Guernsey's longest-running outdoor market takes place throughout the summer at Sausmarez Manor, featuring local produce such as vegetables, jams, chutneys and cakes, as well as a wide range of arts, crafts, books, plants and gifts.

The markets take place every Saturday from Easter to October, from 10am-1pm, outdoors at Sausmarez Manor (in the parish hall during winter).

Manor Railways ride-on train

Go on an adventure! Be driven through part of the Wooded Garden - populated by toy animals - for just under a quarter of a mile on a 7 1/4 gage Diesel Outline Locomotive.

Weather permitting, the train runs daily during school holidays and on weekends during term-time, from 10am-4.30pm. Easter to October only.

Historic house tours

Tours of Sausmarez Manor are an interesting and often amusing way of enjoying a rainy day, or as a refuge from too much sun. Spanning 800 years in the ownership of the Seigneurs de Sausmarez, the architecture and contents reflect the ebb and flow of the fortunes of the island as well as the family over these eventful centuries.

Tours are available at the following times:

April - Monday-Thursday 11.30am. Extra 11.30am tour on Fridays and Saturdays (unless there is a wedding).

May - Monday-Thursday 11.30am. Extra 11.30am tour on Fridays and Saturdays (unless there is a wedding).

June, July, August and September - Monday-Thursday 11.30am and 2.30pm. Extra 11.30am tour on Fridays and Saturdays (unless there is a wedding).

First week of October - Monday-Thursday 10.30am and 11.30am. Extra 11.30am tour on Fridays and Saturdays (unless there is a wedding).

Rest of October - Monday-Thursday 11.30am. Extra 11.30am tour on Fridays and Saturdays (unless there is a wedding).

Evening ghost tours

Visit the most haunted house in the island and hear about the different hauntings that taken place, as recounted by the Seigneur. Famous stories include the nanny of the 28 children, the haunted dolls house, and the late Seigneur.

A complimentary glass of wine or fruit juice is included. Tours are very popular, so booking is essential.

ArtParkS Sculpture Park

Set in the wild subtropical gardens at Sausmarez Manor, the sculpture park has around 200 sculptures from a dozen countries around the world. Most are for sale - see the website (which is the largest dedicated site in Europe, if not the world) for a preview of the ones you can see in the garden, as well as a huge range of others.

The Happy Hollow 9-hole par 3 pitch and putt

Enjoy the course from Easter to the end of October (weather permitting), with free clubs, score cards and balls.

Guernsey Potato Peel Pie Tours

Fans of the Guernsey Potato Peel Pie book or film are invited along to see the Manor in real-life. Book in for a tour and enjoy an individual potato peel pie and complementary glass of wine.

Guests will also be entranced by readings of an actual incident, as recounted in the book of the Pig and the German Officer, that featured in the Guernsey Potato Peel Pie novel. These diaries were written by Peter de Sausmarez's great aunt with great humour and insight, despite the dark days of starvation.

Tours are available on Wednesdays at 6.30pm. Booking is essential.
