During this special Occupation walk we follow the actual routes of Operation Hardtack 7 (1943) and Operation Basalt (1942), the latter being the Commando raid that gave rise to Hitler’s infamous Commando Order which was responsible for the deaths of thousands of allied soldiers.
We also visit the field where an RAF Lancaster bomber crash-landed in November 1943 after mistaking Sark for the Isle of Wight.
